Se evita así la memorización y se los estimula a la producción espontánea. 4- También es una garantía que lo que los chicos dicen es original y no algo que otra persona les haya preparado. 5- Es cierto que no van a tener que hacer un discurso sin notas en la vida real, pero también es cierto que en la realidad nunca vas a tener un discurso escrito delante suyo cuando alguien les pregunte algo en otro país. Don't people realise that this is no longer a requirement for Spanish prepared talk assessment, at any level? Please see "Assessment Guidelines for NCEA Learning Languages" on TKI/NCEA Support Material, and also note that word limits on cue cards do not appear on any assessment instructions or schedules any more. Full texts are allowed to be written on cue cards, provided that the student doesn't read entirely from them. The main point is that the student should engage their audience, with appropriate pace, pausing, intonation, eye contact etc. Full text is okay, provided the talk is delivered persuasively to an audience, rather than as a flat reading. This has been the guideline for two years now, so I was surprised that STANZA is still promoting the old regulations. Can we please change the rules for this year's speech contest now, so they more accurately reflect the current assessment conditions of NCEA and Scholarship exams?
