Dear STANZA members,
On Wednesday 27th of February, all Subject Associations were invited to attend a meeting with the Ministry of Education and NZQA. Cristina Robinson and I went as representatives of STANZA. Bali Haque presented the new project of “Alignment of Standards with the New Zealand Curriculum” to the meeting. The purpose of the project is to align the subject standards (both achievement and unit standards) with the relevant achievements objectives in the curriculum learning areas (in our case Spanish) and address issues of duplication and credit parity.
This project is in its early stages and there are details still to be sorted. We would like to get expressions of interest for the position available.
The position will be for:
1. A representative from STANZA to develop recommendations for changes to the standards
A successful applicant should have knowledge and experience (where relevant) in
A) The New Zealand Curriculum in Spanish
B) the new New Zealand Curriculum
C) Internal, external and moderation of the current achievement and unit standards in Spanish
D) Good teaching practice
The successful applicant will be remunerated (you may be seconded from your current teaching position if necessary) and full specific training and ongoing guidance will be provided. The appointee will be working alongside other languages
representatives (from the other Language Associations). This person should
be able to attend meetings. This will most likely involve 4-6 days of
meeting time and up to another 5 or 6 days to work on their own.
The meetings will be held either in Palmerston North or in Wellington. In
the weekends and/or holidays. So this means that the successful applicant must be
available from mid-May through to October (i.e. Not going overseas for three
weeks…)
The position for this project should be appointed by the 15th of April so applications are now open.
